The final round and awards ceremony of the second China Women's Handicraft Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition was held in Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou Province, on December 27, 2021.
Thirty-one projects selected in the semi-finals competed in two categories (startup team and growing enterprise) in the finals through project roadshows, craft displays and oral examinations that were held both online and offline. An exhibition on the culture of Miao embroidery was also held during the event to help develop the local Miao embroidery industry.
Huang Xiaowei, Secretary of the Leading Party Members' Group and Vice-President and First Member of the Secretariat of the All-China Women's Federation (ACWF), delivered a speech via video link at the ceremony.
On behalf of Shen Yueyue, Vice-Chairperson of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress and President of the ACWF, Huang extended warm congratulations to all the award-winning individuals and teams.
Huang said the competition was held to thoroughly implement the spirit of General Secretary Xi Jinping's important speech during his inspection trip in Guizhou in February 2021, inspire and drive more women to participate in rural revitalization, and fully demonstrate the fruitful results of the women's handicraft industry.
Huang urged women entrepreneurs to innovate, propel traditional handicrafts to brim with renewed vigor and vitality, and integrate traditional folk culture into people's daily lives.
Huang also urged women's federations at all levels to provide more effective, targeted services for women in learning handicraft-making skills, improving the quality of handicrafts, strengthening branding and expanding the market of the handicraft industry.

The competition was jointly held by the ACWF, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, the National Administration for Rural Vitalization and the People's Government of Guizhou Province.
Since it was launched in June 2021, the competition has gathered women entrepreneurs, handicraft enthusiasts and representatives of venture capital institutions and women's federations across the country.
They produced 1,305 projects in more than 20 handicraft categories, such as embroidery, weaving and dyeing, clothing and cultural and creative products.
Organizers set up a Miao embroidery cultural design contest to discover Miao embroidery talents and promote product sales and marketing, contributing to the implementation of Embroidery Plan, a project initiated by the government of Guizhou Province in July 2013 to help protect traditional craft-making skills.
The organizers also provided online training classes on handicraft design and e-commerce livestreaming at home and abroad that have benefited more than 1.5 million people. Women's federations across the country have trained 240,000 craftswomen and helped nearly 60,000 women get jobs, further stimulating their innovation and creativity and promoting the high-quality development of the women's handicraft industry.
